Children’s Health and the Environment Workshop
June 27, 2017
Dr. Candace Nykiforuk will be presenting a workshop at the 2017 Children’s Health and the Environment Workshop & Symposium: Moving Research to Action for Healthy Kids.
Her workshop, Community Environment and Health in Rural and Remote Communities: Priorities for Research and Action in Canada, will discuss how current evidence on urban form and the built/social environment interventions employed to support the health of those living, working and playing in urban settings does not adequately attend to the needs rural or remote populations. The presentation will report on a series of projects undertaken to address gaps related to population health interventions in rural or remote areas in Canada. It will also report on the ‘call to action’ on community environment and health in rural and remote communities culminating from these initiatives.
