Policy Influencer Support for Active Transportation Policy in Two Canadian Provinces: Implications for Advocacy

The Chronic Disease Prevention (CDP) survey assesses policy influencer and the general public’s knowledge, attitudes and beliefs regarding health policy. The survey looks at support for policies relating to healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco, alcohol, substance misuse, and mental health. The PLACE Research Lab has administered the CDP survey eight times between 2009 and 2021.

Using the 2019 data, the PLACE Research Lab team, looked at policy influencer support for eight active transportation policies within Alberta and Manitoba.

Overall results indicated that there was a high level of support across all policy influencer groups, but there was significantly lower support within Alberta than in Manitoba.
